Preface
This a list of books I personally read or in a process of reading. Mouse over
the links to preview the picture and the price of the book on Amazon.
Deep Survival - Laurence Gonzales
This is an astonishing book. Laurence Gonzales (The Author) structured it in a
very interesting and engaging way. He starts off every chapter with a story of
survival, throughout the story he writes his analysis of the actions that led
up to a particular situation at hand. He analyzes the thought process, the
phases of human behavior in a survival situation and he tries to draw
similarity between the thinking of a survivor.

The Outdoor Knots Book - Clyde Soles
There are so many books on knots but this one stands out from them in a very
simple but important way - it tells you when and how to use each knot instead
of listing thousands of them. Additionally the book goes into alot of detail
on rope management, rope/knot strength and modern rope materials. I have three
other knot books and this one is by far the best of them. I even purchased an
extra one to give as a present.

Be Expert with Map and Compass - Bjorn Kjellstrom
I just started reading this book. It's focus is on using SILVA style compass
which has a transparent base with a directional arrow. The author helped
create this compass and from what I understand made it popular in North
America.

Topics such as navigating with compass alone are covered in addition to compass
orientering with a map. The book is filled with fun games that make learning
compass a lot easier. The author does a great job of giving you real-life
scenarios where you can use compass such as marking a fishing spot on a lake or
finding a lake in the wilderness just by knowing it's direction from where you
are.

The book explains the difference between the Classic sighting compass and the
Sylva's style compass - you can immediately see the benefit of directional
arrow found on SYLVA compass.

The Dangerous Book for Boys - Conn Iggulden
I haven't received this book yet but I already know that I am going to like it.
Conn Iggulden touches on the topic that has been bothering me for some time -
rasing my son in a false protection or our modern society. I'll expand on this
later ...
